Seabrook Boat Launch
New Orleans, LA
This installation served as a meeting place for organizations dedicated to coastal issues at a public performance staged by New Orleans Airlift for the world premiere of New Water Music, composed by Yotam Haber and performed by musicians of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra on a barge and in fishing boats at the Seabrook Boat Launch on Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans. |
A grid of sixty-six “ghost columns” made of fishing net were suspended under the Industrial Canal bridge, recasting familiar elements of muscular infrastructure as “ghosts,” as ephemeral and fragile as Louisiana’s diminishing coastline. |
In collaboration with a team from Waggonner & Ball Architecture/Environment. |
This was a small piece of a large public event. A full list of contributors as well as documentation of the performance can be found here.
